The elaboration

  • "Without clear lines of communication, our ideas would stay within our own small development teams instead of becoming mature products. While this is obvious to those of us who have become experienced engineers, the real question is: Why is it lost to us when we are engineering students?" Akbar R Khan, Software Systems Engineer, USA, "Good Communication Is Essential.." (2014)
  • The first part of the quote where "Without clear lines of communication, our ideas would stay within our own small development teams instead of becoming mature products,” really resonates to me as it shows how as engineers we need to take the first step in voicing our ideas out. This will allow us to gain the interest of others who have similar opinions regarding our ideas thus allowing motivating us to make it a reality. If we do not relay such ideas, it will be similar to that of a passing cloud, useful but forgotten after a while. “While this is obvious to those of us who have become experienced engineers, the real question is: Why is it lost to us when we are engineering students?" Akbar R Khan, Software Systems Engineer, USA, "Good Communication Is Essential.." (2014). The second part shows how as we gain experience the wiser we are. Thus as students we do need to create connections with our seniors and lecturers to learn useful tips that will help us when we are ideating.

  1. Great interpretation of the quote by Akbar R Khan, I agree that it is important to portray our ideas in a clear and concise manner that can resonate with our target audience. On a side note, what do you think we can do to elevate our communication skills?
